Communication took place with the arrival of digital technology. The advent of internet caused an upheaval i the world of Information flow. The three mode of communication are the written word, voice and the pictures. The above three used different technologies for imparting communication.
Remarkable thing created by digital technology is to used a single medium for recording all these three mode of communication.
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) defines convergence as the povision of digital communication services - including text, data, image and video over existing infrastructure.
Mobile phone is an example of convergence in media.
